Merry Christmas!
(Kirk writing.) Our big news this Christmas is that we’re moving to Dodoma, Tanzania for two years next June! Leslie went to Tanzania for five weeks this summer on a teaching internship. Read her letter about her trip by clicking here. She’ll complete her Masters in Theology at Virginia Theological Seminary this spring and is excited about returning to Tanzania to serve on staff at Msalato Theological College.   I’ll teach high school math and science at Canon Andrea Mwaka Secondary School, and the kids will attend Canon Andrea Mwaka Primary School. We’ll live at Msalato in a house on the campus.
Charlotte, 8, is excited about the move. Greg, 12, and Henry, 10, are not. Mandy, our dog, will stay with Leslie’s sister, Cate, and her family while we’re gone. On our way over, we’re going to stop in England for a week, and we plan to take several trips while we’re there, including an Egyptian history trip to the Pyramids and the Valley of the Kings, to Madagascar, and to South Africa. The schools are on a year-round system, with five-week breaks at Christmas and in the summer, with three other two-week breaks during the school year. So, in the two years that we’re there, we’ll have three five-week breaks, and six two-week breaks. We’re looking forward to learning about Tanzanian culture and also to traveling around the amazing continent of Africa.
Everyone is genuinely invited to come and visit us while we’re there. We’ll be about a six-hour drive from the Serengeti Plain and would love to go on Safari with any visitors!
